is a bold fusion of traditional Mexican music and rock elements to create the new truly North American Fiesta! For the first time in Victoria!
Inspired by Regional Mexican Son, Fandangos, Rock and Mariachi, we have taken a Canadian jazz string section (Paul Sadlemyer & Drake Shoemaker), a Mexican metal bassist (Dr. Jesus Sierra), a jaranero (Rod Moreno), a donkey jaw (Carlos Lara), mariachi guitars Javier Elizondo, a cajon player from Madagascar (Beni Rene) and traditional Mexican stomp dancing, to take you on a journey Canada has never seen.
Son from Veracruz is the native music to the coast of the Gulf of Mexico that is strummed in compound meter, threading the rhythm with dancing in its native party, the Fandango.
The communities get together for this occasion in which everyone participates, dancing, singing, playing instruments, everyone is welcome in peace and joy and any differences are routinely solved through improvisational verses, akin to a sung rap battle, but in friendlier terms.
So bring us your ears, your voice, your feet and your energy as Son de Metal is sure to delight your senses on this beautiful summer evening!
